I'd go to a fabric shop and get material from there, they will (if they are nice like my local one) cut them into the sizes for you and then all that's needs doing to to hem round. Maybe Mum/Grandma are handy with a sewing machine so can pass on and they will feel they are being helpful

We have already tried this, they quoted us £400+ which was damn steep if you ask me.

  • Regarding the wedding dresses I see someone has already mentioned oxfam.

my friend also went to a very high brow place and managed to get an ex-display dress for £100. it was gorgeous all she had to do was spend £80 getting it professionally cleaned. might be an idea to ask if they have any e-display.

I'm sure you already have your favours but my friend got a charity community in africa to make her favours, little heart fabric keyfriends. They were gorgeous but not sure of cost.

Have you tried looking for linen hire?
A friend of mine managed to find a firm that rented out tablecloths for about £10.00 a table!
  • Sorry Rich & Em,
I am new to this site so I may have sent reply to wrong place,
My friend found a small business in Halifax that made their table linen to order, delivered it in plenty of time and only charged a one off rental that worked out about £10.00 per table. I will get details if you want.

    Good luck with it all

  • Hello All,

Sorry for the lack of updates to this thread, we have been busy with other things away from the forums and now i have a spare 5 mins i thought i would update you all on our progress.

    Napkins
We have bought some napkins, got plain white ones (200) for £3 from ikea we also got some gold and white ones (300) also from ikea for about £4.(Pics Later)

    Chairs
We are having a nightmare with the chairs, the ones at the hall are not sutible for chair covers so we have had to rent the chairs, we are renting 131 of these chairs from a local company for around £300 which works out at about £2.30 including delivery.

    Suits
Got the suit fitting for the best man and groom booked for the 7th Jan, decided to go with 1860.com in the end as the local company i was going to use did not get back to me with a price list, i was quoted £70 per suit from 1860 that is from Friday - Monday hire.

    Bridesmaid Dresses
The bridesmaid dresses have all been purchased now, we got them from BHS we were in their having a look around and stumbled accross some really nice ones, they were tagged up at £25 each but got to the till and they were £19.50 each, £58.50 for 3 dresses

    Disco
The disco is all sorted thanks for the grooms mum, the DJ we had origionally would not answer our calls, emails or text messages so we thought we would knock that one on the head for someone else, this DJ is a bit more expensive £200 but at least now we have the security that something will be their for the eveining entertainment.

    Tablecloths
These are still turning out to be a mystery to us, if anyone has any links, details or anything else that may help please let us know, much thanks.

I hope this is all helpful to someone
    Kind Regards
    Richard & Em
