redesigning bathroom-practical??

We are hoping to redo our bathroom soon. currently we have bath against back wall, with shower over bath on the short edge (power shower-thermostatic, unsure if there is a pump or we just have REALLY good pressure)
then beside bath (on opposite wall to shower) is basin, and loo is against the wall furthest from the bath. (does that make sense?) Door is beside loo, and radiator beside door (same wall as shower)
We have really little storage-a chest, and wall cabinet and a tall unit, which is horrible :(

What I would like to do, if it was practical would be to turn the bath 90 degrees so its long end was down the wall opposite the basin and window, ending at the radiator. We would then have glass shower screen, or possibly curtain (I dont really like them) would happily leave loo and basin where they are, but build storage into the corner where there is bath currently.
So-would this work? Could I leave the shower where it is, or does it NEED to be facing down the long end of the bath? Is it likely to overflow past the end of the bath(towards the door/radiator) either way (wasn't really planning on a full enclosure IYKWIM?) I love the shower, but don't know if the taps etc can be moved from one wall to the other?
We definitely do not have room for a separate shower enclosure (I prefer lots of space which you have in a shower-over-bath, compared to a single sized cubicle)
Does any of this make sense, or I am just rambling?
thanks :D

Quick tip to find out if your shower is on a pump - turn off all your electrics (during the daytime!) at the fuse board (big red switch) and try running shower. If it's a dribble, you have a pump. Sometimes also you can hear them, but it depends on how loudly you sing in the shower!

If the plughole is currently situated beneath the bath then it would be relatively easy to turn it. I'd worry that the water would go in all the wrong places if the trajectory were heading straight against the screen rather than the length of the bath AND you might find it not very easy to stand facing that direction with the curve of the bath etc.

If you replace the bath with a showerbath (which is either P or slightly L shaped) there would be more space available to move around and less chance of water escaping.
Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
  • Thanks-the plug is at the opposite end of the bath at the moment, so if we turned the bath would put plug end under the shower. (shower is currently at the slopey end of the bath)
Will look into the shower baths, I just have a little bit of a prejudice against them, but can see they would be more practical in our case :(
