Creditors calling

Hi my husband and i are goint br feb/march. We stopped paying our credit cards and loans etc the beginning of december. lloyds keep calling asking me to talk to them. Usually we ignore the phone. Should i speak to them and tell them we are having trouble or should i keep quiet until br?
We are saving up our money for rent and br fees, so we will be in our house for a while yet, i'm really worried about baliffs or someone turning up at our door, i don't know what to do.
Does anyone know exactly how much br fees are?
My brain isn't working at the moment.
Thanks
Charlie

Hi Charlie,
You could tell them you are seeking advise from CAB/CCCS to sort out your finances, that might stop them for a couple of weeks.
As for bailiffs, they can't come unless you've had a CCJ against you that you've ignored.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Hey Charlie,
We are in the same position at the mo. we changed our home no for free (thanks BT) and have missed decembers credit card payments and have stopped the January mortgage DD.
We are ignoring them with a view to going BR in March hopefully.
No bailiffs will turn up unless your debt has gone to court,0 -
My calls have not started yet but I have caller display so will just ignore numbers I do not recognise.
Fees are £495 I believe

I stopped paying all my creditors in May and went BR the following April. I just unplugged the phone from 8:00am-9:00pm and didn't answer any 0845 numbers from my mobile.
Barclaycard phoned me every morning without fail at 08:30 - I do miss them (NOT). Nobody calls me anymore!

Hello, this is my first post but I can speak from experience... I have dipped in out of these forums for sometime... and gained a great amount of knowledge... Do not tell your creditors you are going bankrupt under any circumstances. I went bankrupt a couple of weeks ago and like you I stopped paying my creditors 2 months before to save up for the bankruptcy fees. Prior to this I was on a debt management plan with the CCCS for nearly 4 years when I discussed going bankrupt with the CCCS I asked them the question about informing the creditors they advised under no circumstances should I advise my creditors in advance and to help me to save for the bankruptcy fees they stopped my debt management plan for 2 months. They put a note on my file to explain to creditors that I was unable to pay the monthly amount "Due to priority unforseen expenditure" which is quite acceptable basically this could mean anything from needing to get my car through a MOT or you cooker is broke and it needs replacing.
With one persistent creditor who still insisted on telephoning me at least once a day with the ususal threats when they had not recieved their monthly payment I simply requested a CCA from them this stopped the calls within a week they sent me a letter saying they would get the information to me within 28 days and put the account on hold I am still waiting for the paperwork from them which is now 6 weeks ago and have been bankrupt over 2 weeks so there are all sorts of tactics that you can deploy to delay them. Never discuss anything with your creditors over the telephone always communicate in writing........Fight back and play them at their own game.0 -
Hello Again.
The Bankruptcy fees are £495.00 per person but if you are on a low income you can get the fees reduced by filling out an EX160 form from the court I got £150.00 knocked off so only paid £345.00.0 -

Hi charlie,
Unfortunately, one of the stressful things about going BR, is the month or two beforehand, when the phone never stops ringing with creditors demanding money. Dont worry, this will stop once you have gone BR. But for the time being be strong, you are almost at the end of the road. I actually told my creditors I was going BR about 2 weeks beforehand when they had no time to react or take further action( quite enjoyed it as well ) No baliffs will call unless you default on a county court judgement or have a liablity order against you from the council tax people, and even then, these things take time. Hopefully by then you will have saved enough to go BR. If you havent booked your court date, do it NOW. It will give you acceptance in your own mind that you are going through with this, and that the wheels are in motion. Once the court date is booked, you can try and move forward in the day to day things in life. Good luck.0 -
CCA is a letter you send to your creditor asking for consumer credit agreement. Once they receive the letter it puts the account in dispute and they cannot hassle you until they provide the said agreement.
