sony davdz260 query

Back again to all you helpful people.

My son is still after a Home Cinema System to go with his Sony KDL40V4000 television.
This is currently £117.99 at Amazon but I notice they have 2 models, the DAVDZ260 Home Cinema System and the DAVDZ260 Home Cinema System with Bravia Theatre Sync.

Can anyone explain in layman terms what the specific differences are please
and which one would best suit his television?

    No Google where you live??

Anyway, here's a bit of info on Bravia Theater Sync:
    http://www.hiddenwires.co.uk/resourcesnews2007/news20070418-05.html

It is a means of controlling connected hardware through HDMI such that the correct input/output paths are selected automatically. You should check for certain but I think that the TV and Home Cinema System you mention should be compatible in this respect.

Thank you for your very quick reply and yes, I have been 'googling' and trying to check on avforums and reviewcentre (which is why I've taken so long in replying!).

I have looked at hiddenwires as suggested and it looks like it is the Bravia Theater Sync model that my son is after but (and I'm probably being completely thick here) is the DAVDZ260 Home Cinema System and the DAVDZ260 Bravia Theatre Sync the same item?

    Id say so yes.

    Thanks AliEnRIK and Halloway.

It's just that the technical details and product features for these on Amazon were different which threw me somewhat.

    Thank you

Sorry I missed the question in the second para. Here's Sony's own product page:
    http://www.sony.co.uk/product/hcs-surround-kit---dvd-player/dav-dz260

That says that the DAV-DZ260 includes the Bravia Sync function.

Richer Sounds are currently selling this product:
    http://www.richersounds.com/showproduct.php?cda=showproduct&pid=SONY-DAVDZ260

Instore only and £149.99 but if there's one near you they might price match and buying instore might be preferable to you (I hate ordering anything larger than a CD online!)

I have one, it is the same item but described different.

Also I think this is the cheapest it has been on Amazon. I paid £130 a few months ago.

Halloway, RS is abit far (I've no transport and I also prefer buying instore if possible) but I know they do them in Currys or Comet for £129 which is nearby.

Moneysaver, thank you for your reply. I'm glad it's not just me that's seen it described in various ways. Are you pleased with it?

Very pleased with it. It is good enough quality, can't go wrong for that money.
