Where do you get advice?

I'm currently on a debt management plan with CCCS after a house buy went very wrong, however I have been looking for answers as to whether it will be better for me in the long run to declare myself bankrupt or not.
I asked my advisor at CCCS and they pointed out to me that they couldn't give bankruptcy advice as they were not legally trained to do so. They referred me to the CAB.
I phoned CAB and told them the story and the current status, but because I'm already registret with CCCS they said they couldn't advise me because I needed to get the advise from CCCS ??????
An already upsetting situation only gets worse when you are being used as a ball between two players.
Where do I go? Anybody any ideas?
I just want to know that I can keep my bank account, how many years till it has cleared, find out if any other ways etc etc (probably the usual stuff really)

Hi,
CCCS, CAB or National Debtline, contact numbers should be on a sticky at the top of the thread.
BR lasts for one year, though there is a chance might be less if get early discharge.
Only banks that a BR friendly are Co-Op and Barclays (also sticky at top).
Take advice (maybe don't tell them you're in a DMP with CCCS) and if you decide BR is right for you then pop back and ask as many questions as you have.

Sorry, I was not quite sure how to start new thread.
My general experience with CAB is that they seem to be acting on the other side's behalf. National Debtline were very understanding but then one day I spoke to someone who was very arrogant and patronising. She was not in listening mode at all (ex-CAB maybe!!!) Tried CCCS - they were OK but follow-ups are on 0845 number whereas National Debtline are on Freephone. Has anyone got any exerience of these? Which one should I go with? Is CCCS better - in which case it is probably worth paying for a phone call or should I go with National Debtline or should I choose someone else altogether. I have just lost my job without any redundancy pay, so finances are in short supply even to survive, never mind debt servicing.
