I brought a Mira Excel Exposed Thermostatic Mixer Shower, have a combi boiler but there has never been a shower in the property before .....anyone have any idea how much it would cost to fit.
Also how are these fitted? sorry have no clue , would they need to fit pipes or anything? would they need to open my bath panel to get to pipes or anything?
Ive just done my bathroom up so im hoping to much mess want be made , should of done it before but thought i could live without a shower but i just cant

Just had one fitted the other week on recommendation from a plumber, it will require hot and cold pipes to be chased into the wall from beneath your bath right up to the position of the valve.
It will require a few tiles taking off but as long as you a have a few replacement tiles I dont see a problem.
Price I dont know, because mine was fitted in with the whole bathroom cost0 -
Hiya
Its probably a day & a bit of work.....plumbing, making good, tiling, etc. Expect to pay around £200-400 (inc plumbing materials, tiling stuff).
Price depends on just how much work is to be done & where you are in the country.
JocksterNothing is easy........'til you find out how!0 -
Thanks for both replying , £200-£400 is good , just hoping it wasnt more like a grand
I paid someone to do a job for me last time and they did a bad job which i had to correct myself so now i just need to find a good one around london area.
There seems to be a wooden box type thing near the bath which goes into ceiling , would this be hot and cold water pipes? if so could they just go from this instead of getting it from below bath?
I only have a small amount of tiles in my bathroom which do not cover the whole wall where the shower will go , plus i dont have any matching tiles , does the wall need to be all covered with tiles or just partly?
Just painted all my walls but i guess if it needs to be tiled over i guess i probably wasted my time lol
The tiles which were already on when i moved in, some of them were in different shades to the rest of them so i painted them all with tiles paint , now just dont know if i should ask them to remove them all and put new ones up as the damm tile pain is good for side tiles but the ones near the bath what get a bit wet the tile paint is starting to peel of0 -

An instant electric shower would probably have been easier if you want minimum damage to your tiling. The guy who did mine took the pipe from the cold water feed in the loft through the wall cavity so he just had to drill a large hole where the shower was fitted. No damage at all.I'm Glad to be here... At my age I'm glad to be anywhere!!

if the mira excel is a surface mounted kit which generally there are, what is the difference in fitting 1 15mm cold water supply and one 6mm electric cable, over 2 15mm hot and cold supplies?
and now you have a large hole behind the shower which would allow water ingress and possible damp problems, unless your fitter siliconed around the shower which would render the BEAB certification voidHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Why don't/can't you channel out the wall in the hall and run the pipework through this ?
