The story so far....

Well an interesting week so far,

went to look at a house to rent on monday, really like it, kids came with us and i wish they had not now as they keep asking if we are moving and they were picking bedrooms!!!

hadn't got enough money right now to apply for rental, well we have enough to apply but not enough for the deposit + month in advance.

we went round to my mums and mum knew something has been wrong for a few weeks, so we explained all. Crickey, didnt know she was that understanding!! she disappears upstairs and comes down with £1500 and says pay me back wheb you get all your overtime.

OMG my wife burts into tears, im shocked into silence, believe me thats a first!!

So today, straight round to the agents, application filled in and returned along with the application fee. MIL is even standing as guarantor for the agent if needed.

The bad news is that we wont find out now till after Christmas if we can have the house or not.

Called the insolvency helpline today and was told that as long as the value of the car is less than the balance then the OR would not have any interest in it. So we might be able to keep the car.

I even called Virgin media, they can install a phone line for £30, BT want £120.

Is it Christmas yet!!!

  • Be careful with Virgin - if you are not applying until you are BR then they won't accept you (just my experience moving once BR). Am so pleased you got a positive response from your mother though - now that's a Christmas pressie and a half :grouphug:

  • hiya copierguy that is great news for you - we found a place to rent 3 months ago and were completely up front with agent and told my parents about our situ and they did they same - after we left a few hours later my dad came round with enough for deposit - application fee and first months rent - couldnt believe it. It does pay to be upfront with people and it is surprising how they just want to help as much as poss, same with MIL we were saying ready now to go br but had to save for the fee and she then came round with it! unreal, struggled a bit with accepting all of this as funnily enough hate owing people and never taken from family before like this. Even our friends (true ones) take us out once a month on them as they dont want us to go mad - so set a condition that once we are out of it we take them out once a month for a year afterwards to repay their kindness.

Support off family and friends is so important and it is a shame that many do not have this - but hey they have everyone on here and the support here is tremendous

What a lovely mum and mother-in-law! That's really touching. I'm so pleased you're getting that kind of support. It makes an enormous difference.
