iPhone repair problem

Hi,

I recently took my iphone into my local O2 store to be repaired. The earpiece does not work. They gave me a loan phone for a £25 deposit ( A nokia 5070 by the way, a significantly lower model) I got the loan phone home and popped my sim in. When I made a phonecall I realised there was a problem. The numbers 6 and 8 keep automatically pressing during calls making it impossible for the person on the other end to here me. I phoned the O2 store up to arrange another loan phone but they told me they had none in until new year. I am now stuck with a broken loan phone until new year whilst still paying my contract. Is there a way to get O2 to cancel my monthly payment until this is sorted? Are they in breach of contract?

if you take the handset back to the store and speak to a manager they will more than likely fill out a credit form for you to offset the cost of not having a handset for a certain period of time.(However management can only authorize up to £25 if the amount is higher than than that ask them to escalate up to an Area manager 9 times out of 10 your will be credited a full months line rental.
Good thing is however GSX the i-phone repair guys O2 use have a fairly good turn around time so hopefully you'll have the handset back soon.
  • No breach of contract unfortunately. O2 are under no obligation to provide you with a loan phone at all, it's a service that they offer over and above your statutory rights. As long as they repair your iphone within a reasonable time (generally accepted to be 14-28 days) then they're doing all they have to.

That said as rmas12 says, it's worth asking for some line rental back. 'You don't ask, you don't get'!
Any opinions are my own and are offered as advice only and not fact.
