I would never try to buy or sell a mobile phone on ebay.

  • I have tried 3 times to sell phones on ebay with no success. It seem they are a favourite for scammers. What really surprises me is how easy they seem to be able to break into people's ebay accounts. They then send you an email saying they will pay by paypal and pick up. This has happenned to me more than 5 times
  • I have sold about 5 mobiles over 18 months and apart from the nigerian scammers never had a prob but i do put in numerous sellers requirements.

I have brought brand new mobiles from eBay but only from the bigger power seller EBay mobile phone shops.

  • I'm going to be selling a £400 phone soon. Checked out completed listings for it, about 2/3 were bought by NARU's!!!

Buyer requirements will be set incredibly high.

I sell all our used mobiles on ebay, approx 10 now, never had a problem, first few i never had any buyer req set, but i do have them as high as poss now. There are 000s of mobile transactions everyday and most are fine, we just hear the bad stories on here,
imagine how long the thread would be if we started one off for good transcations!

same here - i only buy from powersellers though as i had a bad experience with a private seller.
I've sold all my old mobiles though, with no problems - they are always unwanted upgrades though (i tend to take the best phone they offer and sell it on ebay so i can buy the phone i actually want....i always tend to want phones that are never on contracts ie N76  )

i guess its luck really, mobiles are touchy for sale but so long as you do your research and pay via paypal you should be ok
