OK! ;)

I had a problem with a prize from a very well known glossy magazine a while back and the prize was worth about £750.

I ended up complaining to the Advertising Standards authority and that resolved the matter extremely quickly.

(I am still waiting on a Great Competitions prize from September - if there are quite a few of us in the same boat we should get together and complain at the same time )

Is there anyone else here that is still waiting for prizes, big or small?
I am waiting on a few little ones, some of them been waiting since June. Anyone else in the same boat?
I have emailed some of the runners of the competitions, but haven't had any luck/ replies so far.
It is always nice to get a win, but it looses some of the appeal when the prize doesn't ever arrive.

This is from Velvet Glove's comping guide

"7 What happens if my prize doesn’t turn up?
This is going to be individual to each comp. Usually it will state in the T & C for each comp how long it should take for the prizes to be dispatched to winners. As a general rule though or in the absence of any particular details in the T & C, allow 28 days, (allow more if we are experiencing postal strikes or extreme weather conditions). If the prize hasn't arrived by then, get in touch with the company offering the prize. Try to contact the person whose details you have & ask politely if there is a problem with delivery. A telephone call is the best way, but failing that try emailing them. If they don't reply, look on the original website for contact details & contact them, again being as polite as you can.

If you still get no response from them, there are a few different things you can try.

The Institute of Sales Promotions complaints@isp.org.uk lay down the guidelines which comp organisors must follow. MSE Compers have reported that they are very good at investigating dodgy comps & missing prizes with one chap in particular Edwin Mutton, being an absolute star.

The Advertising Standards Authority have an online complaints form.

I had an issue with a prize not turning up & after chasing politely for 5 months, I mentioned that I had been advised to talk to the Institute of Sales Promotions about the matter. Funnily enough that resulted in a letter of apology within a few days, along with a box of ‘Apology Goodies’ & my prize turned up 2 weeks later. Just remember to keep your cool & remain polite. "

I always chase up prizes, however small. As far as I am concerned if they have informed me of a win, then they've entered a contract with me to deliver that win and I make sure they fulfill the contract. Politely :)

Happened to me a few times and I never give up, i always chase them :D Only with emails though so it's free. And i've got them all eventually.

Read what lilias just posted as I did contact the isp about a prize not received and they helped me and I received it within 1 week.

If your prize hasn't arrived within the specified time, give the company a few emails and if they don't reply within a couple of weeks (I usually email them once a week for about a month or 2) then contact the ISP and explain to them.

Good luck all.

I won and a doberman personal alarm from drivehaven.co.uk - emailed and was told it had been sent about 4 weeks before I chased them up but they would chase up the post office and send another one out this was way back in August - after emailing a few time decided to give up
Back and on a mission:cool:
• I've had to chase quite a few, but got them eventually. I keep a list of wins I'm waiting for now as otherwise I tend to forget what I'm 'owed'.

I won a voucher for an online jewellery site from Cosmo a while back. When it didn't arrive I emailed them. Turned out they only had to email me a code! I got it though.

I'm still waiting for the prize I won with Logitech the dark night. Got an automated email to say prize would come out in the coming weeks but it still hasn't arrived.
If at first you don't succeed try, try, try again.

I'm still waiting on a prize from the B&Q magazine from something like August. I promised it to the guy I sit next to at work, so I feel quite bad I'm still chasing it. I won prizes two months in a row and the second prize turned up really quickly - so that's proof that some sponsors (rather than the mag) are rubbish.

I must start nagging about it again next week. :)
latest win: LOTR: Moria - thanks to catz
- I'm moving to Australia in April - will the competitions be any good there?!:rotfl:
• I won an iPod from a Sky Movies comp that closed in September and haven't received it yet - I've called and been emailing Sky about it and the guy I'm speaking to has said he'll chase it up with the people supplying the iPod, but that was 2 weeks ago...
Am guessing nothing is going to happen for a couple of weeks now as its Christmas so will have to start chasing again in the new year :(
