Which boring shade of white gloss?

If a room is painted in bog standard magnolia, what colour gloss should I use for the skirting and architraves? They are white at the moment, but it doesn't appear to be brilliant white. I think brilliant white might be a bit too vicious for such a plain room. Is there a standard 'quiet' white or do I have to choose from 17 varieties at the shop
Thanks

I recently used dulux eggshell. Ideal if you dont want anything too shiny or bright.0

Dulux DH white is a nice colour and is from the Heritage range.
Have you tried using the Mousepainter on the ICI site........ well worth a go if you want to create your own colour scheme in different room sets.

I'd recommend going for Trade White which is less bright than Brilliant White - it has a more "creamy" colour to it and looks much nicer. Brilliant White can appear quite "blue" in some situations!0

If it were me i'd paint it with dulux brilliant white satinwood (oil-based)..much less in your face than gloss and looks a bit classier IMO. Also pure brilliant white is invariably cheaper than other colourings being most popular.
