Tv Broken in transit not insured? (ebay)

I sent a portable tv through clickaparcel it arrived with the screen smashed, I sold the tv through ebay. It was in full working order when it left me, I phoned the courier who said it is not insured, (I should have read the 'small print') Does anyone know if this will be insured through paypal? I sympathise with the recipient, (he said the tv must have been dropped by the courier) I have no way of knowing who broke the tv or when it happened.

It is your responsibiltity to get the goods delivered safely to the buyer so I'm afraid you have no choice but to refund. However that said you employed clickaparcel to do it for you. They failed to do it safely by what you have said. May not be insured but may still be that they do not carry out what they had been tasked to do properly and therefore responsible for the loss. Difficult to prove though.0

I thought courrier companies HAD to have insurance??
Refund the buyer, then contact clickaparcel again, and ask them to reimburse you using their insurance.
If they won't, then tell them you will be contacting trading standards, as a courrier company without insurance is pointless!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Most couriers don't insure glass AFAIK.My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
Thanks for the info - not what I was wanitng to hear but a lesson learned eh. Suppose all hope lays with paypal having some sort of insurance but I doubt it. Thanks again - Happy Xmas Best wishes for the New Year.0

Looking at their T&C....
http://www.clickaparcel.com/content_prohibited.htm= Items that can be shipped but with limited liabilty.
Televisions, LCD screens, Plasmas, Projectors or similar= Any of these items being sent will have no liability cover. No claim for loss or damage will be accepted.
So you will have to refund and put it down to experience.A lesson learned, read those terms and conditions.

Even if they won't reimburse you for your loss it could be worth contacting them again and asking if they will at least refund the money you paid them for a service they failed to provide satisfactorily. Not much consolation, but better than nothing.0

I sold TV's for a while but the stress of potential losses such as yours stopped that venture very fast.
The main problem I found that by the time the courier had delivered to me some of the boxes would not have lasted another courier run. Resulting in me delivering my second last one 70 miles away so a 140 mile round trip. The last one now resides in our bedroom....:(0
