HELP? I sold, I posted (Recorded) - It never arrived?

As it says....

I sold an item on ebay (Tickets to a comedy show as I needed the cash to pay for car repairs:( )

I mailed them recorded delivery and emailed the tracking number to the buyer.

I checked the online tracking system and noticed the envelope had not been delivered so I sent my buyer a note asked had they received a "while you were out card"

They did! They apparently arranged for the envelope to be redelivered on a different day - which it wasn't so they enquired at their post office to be told it had been returned to sender.

I've received nothing back though - does anyone know where I stand?

I've asked my buyer to keep on at the post office to try and track it and I'll keep an eye out for it - but in cases like this, would I be forced by paypal to refund the buyers money???

I know if it wasn't sent recorded I wouldn't have a leg to stand on, but it has - is it my job to spend the day on the phone to my post office?

Any advice would be appreciated.

  • Regardless of whether or not it's recorded - if the buyer hasn't received it, you'll need to refund, or get them to her again if they are returned to you. Tickets really ought ot be special, not recorded.
    My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j
  • Of course if they are returned to me, I will send them on again.

It was my understanding Recorded Develivery covered the item to a cost of £60 - am I wrong?:undecided

  • Ahhhhhh bum.

The item was only worth £40 so not much difference, but in a case like this, would I then make a claim from Royal Mail?:o

Ahhh, thanks for that Nicky - my own fault then :(

I'm living in hope that they arrive within the next few days.

    .

Tickets are not covered standard mail (which includes recorded) so although there is nothing to stop you making a claim they are extremely unlikely to pay you out.

Lets hope they get returned quickly so you can resend in time.

Just a thought... You obviously intended to go to this comedy show, so am assuming it wasn't 100s of miles away? Am also assuming the buyer is also happy to travel to the venue?
How about you refund the Paypal payment, arrange to meet up with your buyer, then do a cash on collection? At least you and your buyer then know the tickets are safely in their hands.
