Ebay seller says address is not recognized for recorded delivery

I was wondering if someone had any advice on an ebay problem my girlfriend is currently experiencing. She bought an item on ebay this weekend and has received a message today from the seller who says that they are unable to send the item via recorded delivery (which my girlfriend paid for) as our address is not recognized, specifically the house number. We have double checked the address that the seller sent us in their message for us to confirm and it is indeed the correct address with no mistakes.
Does anyone have any idea why this could be happening and has this ever happened to anyone else before? We have received numerous items via recorded delivery over the last few months using the same address. Could this be a problem with the post office the seller is using?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help

Ask them what method they used to come to the conclusion your address does not exist.0

get the post office clerk to enter it manually.
They enter the postcode and the house number into their computer and it appears that yours is not on their database.
check your postcode on the royal mail website to see if it comes up correctly.0 -
Does your address show here?

I didn't know the RM check when you're at the PO with recorded, I thought that was only on special.
In that case it must of been a dopey clerk, perhaps.0 -
the recorded delivery has changed, they no longer give you the orange rec del label back, you get a receipt with the address on the bottom.
It has happened to me when sending parcels and i just ask the clerk to enter it manually.0 -
I have had this happen to me with items i have posted via recorded delivery.
But the cashier can enter the address manually if it is not found on the screen and the items i have posted have still always delivered ok.Member of Thrifty Gifty ~ Making money for Christmas 2010:£2 Savers club member no 40 ~ £54Amazon Vouchers BingoPort ~ £10Dooyoo Challenge Jan ~ £24.07 / £20.00 Yippee over target :j0 -

What utter rubbish. They are conning you. You write the address on the envelope / packet and that's it. The postal worker has no way of knowing if an address is genuine or not if you've got the correct postcode that is it ..write to them and ask for the extra postage back. they are Con Men...0
