Gas and electric included in BR

Went BR on 05th Nov included outstanding bill for gas and electric in BR, still waiting for British Gas debt derpartment to deal with gas and set up a new dd for N Power but I have read that if they are your current supplier they can not be included in BR well they are and don't want the hassle of moving, plus I have fixed prices, also read on other sites that they will fit a pre-payment meter all very conflicting info asked suppliers who don't seem to have any idea what will happen, British gas said to still make my monthly payment eventhough no scheme is set up

  • Hi Queen, when we went bk in july we had arrears with british gas and when we told them they wrote them off and we just carried on as normal and since then have moved address and we have informed them and they are fine with it, overall we have had no problem at all although we were told that the arrears have been wrote off the debt dept havent finalised and updated the system . Hope this helps .
  • I'm with BG and went BR 14/11 - they weren't one of my creditors. Last week they sent me a letter closing my account due to bankruptcy!! After some wrangling, they relented but I have to have a payment card........... Just thought you should know there doesn't seem to be any consistency!

  • I have no idea - as they weren't included in the bankruptcy the OR didn't contact them - it's a bit of a mystery!

    It is not that simple, no energy supplier can just cut you of, there are codes of conducts and guidlines they must follow, more so where children or elderly live.

    That said insisting on a payment metre may be reasonable, disconection however would not, more so if there was no debt to that company.

    Sometimes these companys "forget" there obligations under the idea of a free market, i am sure with some digging there is something in the code of conduct that would forbid a disconection where no debt is involved, as these companies seem to have to jump through hoops to get permision from whoever when there is.

    Simply saying the reason is because you are BR is very doubtfully true IMHO,i may be wrong, but if someone with hundreds of pounds in arears can avoid disconection, i doubt i am

    Just because a company says they can do something does not mean they can, i advise anyone to seek advice from CAB or the like before believing what any big company may claim is true.
    Thats it, i am done, Blind-as-a-Bat has left the forum, for good this time, there is no way I can recover this account, as the password was random, and not recorded, and the email used no longer exits, nor can be recovered to recover the account, goodbye all …………. :(
