Photo smaller than the frame help please!

I bought one of the £1.50 photo collages which is A3 sized as a gift - its proved to be very difficult to buy a A3 sized frame cheaply. I've bought a frame which is slightly larger but now there is a space between the photo and the frame. Can anyone give any advice to make this space look ok? I tried finding a mount but this is almost as expensive as buying an A3 frame! I really don't want to spend much as I can't afford to.

Thanks!

Just some coloured paper behind the photograph to match the colour of your room? I think it works and half the time you dont even notice the paper being there! I have black rooms to some black paper frames the photo nicely :)

You could buy a large piece of card and use a sharp craft knife to cut a mount yourself? Maybe practice on a smaller (cheaper!) piece of card first? It doesn't have to be terribly heavy weight card really.

My local arts and crafts store would often cut the aperture for me if they were quiet when I went in to buy the card/paper :)
