I have a secret I have not told my partner

My partner and I are currently looking for our first place to buy together. The problem I have is that I have a loan of £8500, however my girlfriend does not think it is high as this! All she knows is the amount I am paying each month - £195.00. When I apply for a mortgage will have to reveal all my loan details?

You are about to enter into a loan for far greater that £8,500 !!!! If you cannot tell her about this, what basis for a long term commitment like a mortgage is it?
The amount outstanding will show on your credit file when the lender searches, also you have to declare the amount on the mortgage application form.
Without sounding harsh and take no offence from this you need to wise up and tell her. If you don't it will be a mojor problem when she finds out you have been keeping it from her (and believe me she will find out eventually).
As I said, take no offence from this, just an objective and honest view.
Hope this helps

Why is it you dont want to tell her?
she may know.... repayments of £195 a month, you dont have to be einstein to work it out.
Has she ever asked how much it is for?

You will have to declare this on your mortgage application. But I don't see your problem if she already knows about your repayments, unless you have been telling her porkie pies.0

Tell he for goodness sake... I have a friend who has been in a situation where she has just found out that her husband has been lying to her about finances for years and it has escalated out of control. They are no longer together and there has been a lot of hurt and lying. Tell her the truth and start your new life together by being honest!0

yes you have to tell bank and yes you should tell the girlfriend. she's going to find out anyway- not telling her suggests you don't trust her. ok she may be angry but if you can't be totally honest and open with each other and support each other, what's the point in being together!0

I'd Tell Her Now Before Your Sitting In Front Of The Mortgage Adverser, She'd Be More Angery With You If Not, Plus You'd Get An Ear Bashing All The Way Home From Keeping It From Her!0
