Help!! Lost my job then broke my leg, need advice!!

On October the 20th of this year I lost my job, got made redundant and then week later I broke my leg really badly (the same day i put a claim in for job seekers!) and was then in hospital for two weeks. I'm still not allowed to work at the moment while my leg heals. It's going to take a while.
I claimed for Employment and Support allowance while I was in hospital. I should be getting my first payment soon now i've sorted all the documents out.
The thing is.. i'm a bit disappointed with what i'm getting; £47.95 a week. This is just not enough to pay for rent, bills and food etc. In fact I got £5 more a week last time I claimed for job seekers allowence, which seems ridiculous considering this time i'm both out of work and incapacitated.
I was wondering if theres anything i'm missing out on? Should I be claiming for housing and council tax benefit as well? I'm two months behind on rent so it's becoming a bit desperate.
I don't get how so many people live off benefits for so long, yet i'm in this situation and seem to get barely any help. I guess it's because i'm young and live on my own?
So I need some advice. Im sure there plenty of people here who know a lot more about my options than I do. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks You :T

Yes, you need to apply for LHA and CTB also. If you are under 25 you will only qualify for the single room/ shared house rate, so this may not cover all of your rent if you have your own place.Gone ... or have I?0
