Hi All,
A tax Thicko here....
Have come across the fact that if you are an employee of a company and work from home as a condition of your job (admin type stuff), you can claim a couple of pounds a week to help towards heating and lighting (it's frezzing today and only gonna get colder so every penny counts !)
Could someone Please give me a step by step on how to do this ie is there a particular rebate form to fill in.
The first thing That I have done is got a letter from my employer that states I am employed by them and am home based /work from home as condition of job.
Many many thanks all

Not sure how it works for employed but being self employed it's as follows:
If the room is shared use, i.e you use a corner of your living room for doing your business admin, you claim a flat annual rate which I believe is £150.
If the room is solely used for business and no other use, you claim a percentage of utility bills and mortgage interest/rent that the room forms as a percentage of the number of rooms in the house. So if you had 2 bedrooms, a living room and a small box room which you used as an office, you'd claim 25%.0 -
Thanks Conor
So ho wdo I actually go about doing any of this.
Who do I contact and how???
Thanks0 -
Usually through submitting a claim to your local tax office or through PAYE if it's the set amount. If you find out which tax office your company uses, contact them and they'll advise you about it. Best to get it from the horses mouth.0
