I switched to Post Office and can't fault them on price and quality of cover - They really deserve to make this a success as they have been the easiest Insurance Company I have ever dealt with. They have obviously thought and asked customers what they want on all this, and delivered!

FYI the company behind PO Car Insurace also do Marks and Spencer's, who funnily enough charge a lot more for the same cover!

That is true, also Budget, dial direct, debenhams, Northern bank, yorkshire bank, clysdale bank, homebase and Yes insurance.

But with M&S you do get free breakdown and key care.

  • I also got a really good quote from the Post Office, approx £80.00 cheaper than last year (Direct Line) plus as it's due 30th March I should qualify for the £50.00 postal order so net price is £111.00 compared to last year's £245.00. I also tried M & S but they came up with £216.00 which although cheaper than Direct Line can't touch the Post Office. Thanks to everybody on this post
  • Got a quote from the Post Office and it's £40 cheaper than my present insurer. As my insurance expires today I'll be able to take advantage of the £50 postal order back. Planning to do it through topcashback.uk (only just registered with them) and possibly £45 back. Anyone know of any drawbacks etc. to what I'm planning? Thanks.
    If I had known then what I know now . . .

  • My quote from PO is cheaper than the rest but they can only offer a policy with £250 compulsory excess which is not ideal. Unlike other websites, they can't provide a quote with less excess.
LloydsTsb is better with decent cashback from quidco as well!
  • All looks OK to me.My daughter has just benefitted from the same PO largesse you are talking about and it saved her nearly £100.00.

Which part of the Highlands are you in - I've been there many times ?

    HTH

    Best regards

I checked the excess on the policy I've just bought again and it's £100 so I'm delighted. Really pleased I checked on here before buying elsewhere.

I'm just 15 miles east of Inverness, lived here all my life.

The £250 excess doesn't apply to all quotes. Sadly, they have this deranged deal with Norwich union, that if Norwich union are the cheapest (even by 1p), the system prevents us from getting a quote with any other underwriter, and we cannot increase or decrease the excess.

I can see we are going to lose a lot of business that way, but what do I know?

Well, I've bought my car insurance from the PO, the "start price" was £168. After the £50 cashback it becomes £118. I signed up through topcashback for a £45 cashback. Which makes my fully comp car insurance £73.19 for the whole year!!!! :j :j
Debt free = December 2010...as of March 2006 it is now January 2010..... as of December 2008 it is now December 2009 :j hopefully sooner!!
:jDEBT FREE:j January 2012, took longer but I got there, all by myself, through sheer hard work and pride!

How long did it take for the £45 cashback to be added to your account? I only did mine yesterday. I was £148 and some odd pence then minus the £50 cashback and hopefully the £45 so making it £53. for the year. I'll be delighted if this all goes through ok.
