What would you do?
My price fix with Southern on both gas and electricity ends today.
I have taken meter readings, so do I phone them with the readings tomorrow - bearing in mind that they bill six monthly, so will not get a bill until February - or do I let them estimate what my usage on the lower rate has been??
Is it likely to be in my favour not advising them of the exact readings for this quarter, or do you think they are likely to try and up the number of high priced units that we will be using over the next quarter.

Personally, I would just keep the readings safe and if the difference is in your favour then I would ring and let them know when you get your next bill.0

Of course you wouldn't want to increase the reading by loads of units because they would be cheaper, as that is naughty and probably against the law!0

Or even because it might prompt an early meter read?
When we moved into our house, we had gas but no CH. When we submitted our first post-CH readings, a meter reader was round the following week to read the gas meter only.0 -

Did think of this but thought I might get caught out, so just couldn't risk it:rotfl: :rotfl:
As they say, honesty is the best policy!
But, if I keep the readings I doubt if they will accept them later on.Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -
I plan to submit my readings later on tonight or first thing tomorrow morning. I'm switching away as their standard tariff is dearer than I can get elsewhere.0

Are you going to give them the correct readings???:D
I did think about switching again, but it is such hassle and to be honest Southern are so easy to contact and talk to. Think for the time being I will switch to their basic online tariff and see what happens in January, when hopefully prices will halve (but probably not).Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -

As I am switching on the 9th & 13th December I think it's probably best to give them the correct readings. There was also a meter reader round a week or so ago so don't think there is any point giving them an incorrect reading. Often Transco are sent to collect meter readings on switching.I did think about switching again, but it is such hassle and to be honest Southern are so easy to contact and talk to. It would cost me an extra £230 per annum to stay with Scottish Hydro (same group as Southern) than to move. Too much money to throw away.0
