Hi, hoping someone can help me! I'm looking for a basic, not too expensive jewellery/necklace making kit for my Mum for Christmas... I found a bead shop in my local town which did have a few kits for around the £8-10 mark but the bead colours were a bit bright & a bit too teenage if you know what I mean...Can anyone recommend anything? Or if anyone has some advice on how to put a kit together myself I'd be very grateful! Thank you!

It's quite expensive but thought maybe it might give you some ideas of things that you could get to build up a kit of your own?

Woolworths sell those "compartment boxes" for £1 or £1.50 for the larger ones and you could fill them with the beads, chains, pliers etc.

I haven't really got a clue as I've never made jewellery but hope this might help a little bit.

I've always rated this site: the've only got a couple of kits in at the mo but you can always buy a few mixes to make your own up.

however, its worth looking in the pound shop as they sometimes have kits in the clear boxes with the compartments

Hi they had some nice bead sets in the Works last ime I went in there, some were in a browny colour if I can remember rightly and they were not too dear.

Nanokitten- thank you for the link, I've just had a little look, there's some lovely beads on there..think I might end up buying 2 of whatever I get my mum so I can have a go too!

Rufusd!!!2- hadn't thought about Works, I'll pop in there this week, sounds like a better colour choice than the bright yellows & greens I managed to find yesterday!

I have just ordered a bead set for a friend from http://www.craftydevilspapercraft.co.uk yesterday (enter bead set in the search). I haven't received it yet so I don't know what it is like but at £4.99 (reduced from £9.99) it seemed like a good buy to me. There is a good range of colours and it has 18 compartments with a selection of beads, cords and findings.
