Price cap - HELP!

I've capped til oct 09 pay monthly direct debit and online account - have jusat recvd email from supplier saying they want to increase my monthly payments by 15 per month as my consumption is slightly higher than the current amount i'm paying and they will start the new payments in Jan 09. can they do this? i thought if i price fixed then that is wat i pay for term of contract. Any suggestions how to tackle this?

    Of course they can do this. If they don't increase your DD, you will end up owing them money to cover your increased usage. The calculated DD figure is based on previous usage, so you should be able to work out the required DD payment for yourself.

    It's the price per kwh that is fixed or capped. The monthly cost is estimated on the predicted use - your use is higher than predicted so your monthly payments need to be increased to avoid debt.
  • Of course they can ( as said in posts above!) The fixed price is your unit price for gas/elec. many people sadly believe that if they pay by DD then they can use as much as they want. Unfortunately not the case. You should take meter readings and give them to your supplier to make sure you really need to up the dd by £15.
