Hi - We currently get our phone and broadband with Tiscali but having just rang them about moving they tell me that we need to get BT to transfer the number and on doing some surfing on this it seems it will cost me £124 and also tie me in for 12 months.
Is this true ?
Should i just then go with BT for phone and broadband ?
This house move has been 10 months of utter hell so tbh i have no mental strength left for arguing with utility providers !
We have got to keep the current number so have no option - or is there ?
Thanks
ETA:
Just spoke to the bloke whose house we are moving to and he is currently with Southern Electric for phone / BT for broadband. If BT do want money off us can we just ring Southern lectric and ask to take over the account ? i.e then get our phone off them ?
Also can you take your number to a different exchange ? WE really need to as our number is in the yellow pages:eek:

It's not paranoia if they really are after you.

You can only keep a number if your moving within the same local exchange area.
Has the occupier of the property moved his line rental to Southern Electric or just his calls?
Providing a BT Type Line is only stopped by existing user and not cancelled ,you can usely start it free of any connection fee.0
