I have bought something off someone on Ebay who has a 0 feedback rating, but then I thought, we all have to start somewhere. He has sold to 8 other buyers, but the items have sold for a fraction of their actual cost.
He displayed the Paypal logo on the item, but is now asking for payment by direct payment to bank, cheque, postal order or draft. According to him he does not have a Paypal account and the inclusion in the listing was a mistake.
I thought if I paid by Paypal and there was a problem, I could do a chargeback, but won't be able to cancel payment by any other method.
What does anyone think, should I give him the benefit of the doubt and pay my £18 and keep my fingers crossed ?

Tell him that you are only prepared to use Paypal and are happy to wait whilst he sets up the account.Happy chappy0

Without seeing the listing it sounds very dodgy to me.
I have a hard time believing the inclusion of Paypal in the the listing was a mistake and the listing could have been altered or a note put in when they realised the mistake.
The seller can easily sign up for Paypal now and take that as payment.

Can you post the link or the item number so we can have a proper look

It sounds a bit dodgy to me. Maybe he doesn't want a Paypal account because he's worried about fees, so if you were to offer to pay through Paypal from a bank account or Paypal account balance, he'd be able to accept the payment with a non-fee-paying account (though he still wouldn't be entitled to use the Paypal logo for future listings unless he had a fee-paying account to accept card payments).0

It does sound dodgy but if he's a true noob to eBay then he/she could be just inexperienced.
I'd ask for his name/address and a landline telephone number too and check it with 192.com
I do remember a long time ago I was in a similar situation but it was a computer I was buying. Turns out the guy was just slow and didn't understand why the few people he had sold to were nervous when he was slow to ship and respond to our mails. We got there in the end tho.0 -
well - I started selling for the first time last week, and its a heck of a lot more difficult than it is to buy! Takes a while to get used to.
I would get some more details off the guy so you can try and check him outCross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219.
