Loose Cartlidge at hips? :(

Hi, I have a questions so will write down my notes and (short) story so yous get the idea.
I've been getting sore pains at the joints of my hips alot lately but i just take painkillers to numb the pain.
My joint can and has been "popping" out of the joint itself and i need to keep pushing it back in.
Since a young age (about 9/10) I have been able to pop my hip joint out so it semi-dislocated but with no pain or discomfort.
I went to the doctor at start of this year and have had tests done and they told me yesterday they think it's loose cartlidge aroung my hip which has been undected since birth which means it doesnt hold the bone in place hence why it keeps popping out itself.
I was told i'll need an mri scan then surgery to see if it can be repaired and she put that since my age she guessed i would'nt was a hip replacement
My questions are -
Has anyone had this surgery and was it effective?
How long was the recovery? in hospital and back home
The specialist yesterday said it was on both hips so i guess it would be surgery on both sides.
Thanks

I don't think you're going to get your questions answered, laurissa.
MEDICAL ADVICE
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this: Sorry, giving or asking for medical advice is not permitted on this forum as it’s not what this site is about. While discussing medical insurance policies, cheaper ways to see consultants, cashback for alternative health treatments and how to get specific medication cheaper (legally) are all perfectly acceptable we ask you specifically not to discuss what to do in the event of certain medical problems (please see this rule on the Health Board). I don't believe I'm contravening any of the rules here so:
I've had relatives who have had it done and were thrilled at the outcome and especially at the relief from the pain and being able to walk again. Recovery in hospital is roughly about 6 - 10 days depending on how you go, same at home, though you'll need plenty of rest post op. Whatever you do from there on though DON'T ever be tempted to pop it out again after!!!
Good luck.
