carers allowance to continue.?

Hi my wife is 60 shortly,she has no private pension,and although she worked for over 18 years for Mothercare and Bupa she only ever paid the reduced stamp,she gets carers allowance for me at the middle rate,will this continue when she becomes 60,she has only been recieving this benefit for 4 years.any advice greatly recieved thanks Jim.

There's nothing on the directgov page about an upper age limit -- just a lower limit of 16.Cheryl0

Hi, If she is going to receive state pension of over the rate of carer's Allowance she receives then the Carer's Allowance payments will stop. However, she will still have an underlying entitlement to Carer's Allowance which means that you may get extra premiums on Pension Credit, Housing Benefit and Council Tax benefit.0
