Cheapest way to get to London Kings Cross from Scarborough via train???

Wanting to travel on Wednesday 12th November from Scarborough to London Kings Cross. I need to be in London at 6pm-6.30pm. I am planning to return the next day on the 13th. What is the cheapest way to go about this?

If there are still advance purchase singles available, then that is the way to go.

Scarborough station (I assume it's staffed?) will sell them, or you can buy online ( www.nationalexpresseastcoast.com ) or by phone

Note a walkon return (off peak) is £88 so don't pay more than this in singles

Try splitting the journey at York
  • If you don't mind going to London St Pancras and having multiple changes of train then you can do it for £50
    Out 12th
Scarborough to York £5 Advance Single
York to Sheffield £4.50 Advance Single
Sheffield to London St Pancras £18 Advance Single

    Rtn 13th
London St Pancras to Sheffield £13 Advance Single
Sheffield to York £4.50 Advance Single
York to Scarborough £5 Advance Single

Best way to book this is via the internet, the London to Sheffield and back trains there are not many Advance tickets left so you need to be quick and give yourself plenty of time to change trains.

I have to change at York regardless as trains dont run from Scarborough to London

    That's why I suggested it

Not any advance singles left for the york to sheffield and Sheffield to King Cross seciton of the journey :-(

Cheapest is the off peak return for £88 but can't come back any earlier than 8pm from Kings cross on the 13th. Hmm, still not sure what to do. Can get a single from Hull to London for £20.50 but arriving late on the Night of the 11th which is false economy as would need an extra night in a hotel.

Also does anybody know the best underground stations to travel to, to see all the best sights. Somebody said Charing Cross was near westminster abbey etc and Traf square? What about the palace etc? What are best ways of seeing most of sights?

Just checked there's loads of advance tickets from York to Sheffield @ £4.50 Each
Its Sheffield to London St Pancras not Kings Cross and there's a few of them still available @£18 Each

I need to arrive in London St Pancras/Kings cross no later than 18.30. And with these ticket prices I can't work out how to do it. Hence, why I believe they aren't availble.

If I need to arrive at 18.30 on the 12th what is best route including times if you can please.
