Hiya, my GHD's died a few months ago. Had them for about 4 years so was expecting it. Couldn't afford a new pair so got a pair of SCP's from http://www.hairstuffdirect.co.uk
They are as good as GHD's. They don't drag your hair or anything and are as hot as GHD's so work just as well.
Hope this helps0 -
I think it all depends on your hair type, mine is very thick and course and although not curly it has a kink and a mind of its own and Ive hated it for years until I got some GHDs which have transformed it to sleek and straight and at last I love my hair

i second the 'she' recommendation - they are essentially the same as the slightly older ghd models (without the fire risk though!). i got mine from ebay but i can't remember the seller.:happyhear0

Personally I have a pair of GHDs and yes they are expensive but well worth the money - I know someone that had theirs for 4 years and then they broke and they got a like for like swap from GHD.
If it is purely a cost thing that would stop you from buying GHD another Hair Straighteners company that offer 'no quibble' guarantees and have a good looking range of products is Hair Goddess.
They have diamonte ones, pink ones, black ones, wide straighteners and there is a white glossy one too.

Slightly OT, but why does everyone want to look similar with poker straight hair, especially in the case here, "thick, wavy" looks wonderful.0 -
I have 'she' straighteners and their great. My hairdressers recommended them and they all use them in the salon, he said they swapped over to them because of the problems they'd been having with GHDs losing heat etc over time, especially when their on in a salon all day.Belly Monkey arrived 19.11.09 :j0

Hi
I have used GHDs for years and could not imagine using anything less. When my last pair had bitten the dust I asked my hairdresser to recommend something cheaper and he suggested remmington pro shine.....they are usually on offer at most outlest and even at boots for just £23.....they reach 230 degrees and have heat settings - they are not as `hot` as GHDs but I actually prefer them and will continue to buy them......my hair is very thick and frizzy and I have it in a sleek, straight style and my hair has actually been in better condition with these straighteners.
All the best0
