my daughter has been using babyliss pro 230's for about 2 years, she has very curly hair and said they were good, but they took too long and she had to go over and over her hair. she wanted to get it chemically straightened but it was £300! so even though i though GHDS were probably just Hype and a gimmick, i told her to buy some and try them. the difference is amazing, it now takes her 10 mins to do her hair, it used to take her 30 before.
I have straight hair but it is thick and has the most annoying kink, i have been using babyliss pro 230 elegance for a year, they are ok but i do still struggle with them and i never seem to get my hair as it should be.
i tried my daughters ghds once, AMAZING!!! one go over the hair and it is done. The next day i bought a pair from amazon for £97 and they are worth every penny! my hair is now done in 5 mins! no more struggling. GHDS are not hype, they are fantastic.
there are reviews which say the Babyliss pro230's are just as good, THEY ARE NOT! take it from me The GHDS are much better and they are worth the money, i just wish i had bought a pair sooner. The added bonus is the IV range comes with a 2 year guarantee, they used to only have 1 year so its a bit better value. BTW my daughter no longer wants her hair chemically straightened!0 -
if you dont mind a courier delivery lookfantastic do GHD IV for about 94.00 with a heat defence spray thrown in.
i got mine from Amazon (NOT THE MARKETPLACE SELLERS!) because they use Royal mail and i could pick them up from a sorting office if I missed the delivery!
if you are going to buy some then dont buy from ebay, they are mostly fakes. there are also a lot of internet sites selling fakes .GHD website has a list of authorised dealers0 -
Thanks for the info..
I already have a set of GHD, but as I have posted on another thread, they seem to be loosing heat - it's taking me much longer than it used to to do my hair. They are 4 years old now and have contacted GHD who havew offered to have a look at them for me at a cost, but TBH, I can't cope with the thought of not having straightners while I send them away, so was thinking about just buying something new...
Now though, I think i'm going to have to buy GHD's again, and perhaps pass my current ones onto DS  (I know, a boy.... but he's 16 and spends ages on his hair, so he may as well do it right!!!)0 -
Hi
I have the babyliss pro 230 and i have found them to be really good.
I have very thick hair and they do mine quickly with no need to go over and over them.0 -
really, having tried more of less everything on the market, there is nothing that compares to GHD
as for them not heating up so well, dont return them to GHD, they charge loads for repairs and take ages to return them - a quick google should bring up other companies that do repairs at a fraction of the cost - think there is even a link on another thread listing some, that are recommended

kudo ones are good, iv been using those for years and i have thick wavey hair0

BaByliss 2088U Pro 230 Elegance Bronze Straightener
I bought these last xmas, I find them just as good as GHDs. My hairdresser said not to buy GHDs, she didn't rate them at all. (She said they break easily.) She recommended FHI straighteners, these are the ones she uses herself and she has long curly hair. However I went for the Babyliss ones as they were only £37.99 when I bought them. I am very happy with them, my hair is thick but not very curly so don't know if that makes a difference.

those are the ones i have and think they are brill, my mate who is a ghd lover even says they are just as good0 -
Hi there,
GHD's are really good. If you can hang on for a little while longer, every so often you can get £50 off a brand pair when you trade in your old straighteners. I have no idea when the next promotion will be though, maybe there are some hairdressers who might be in the know?
If you need some for the meantime then try Remington? I had these before I got GHD's and they worked a treat, my hair isn't massively curly though.
I've heard of the FHI's aswell but never used them, heard good reccomendations though.
SilaquiThs signature is out of date because I'm too lazy to update it...0 -

SHE are very good. They are basically the same as GHD. Alot of hair salons are using SHE instead of GHD's now.
They are £59.990
