My home insurance policy with tesco was due for renewal, they sent me renewal paperwork with an increase of £200 premium making it £796 a year, after going to a compare website I found lots of companies offering a lot cheaper to new customers, even my own insurance company. So, armed with details of the new company I was going to change to and the price of £343 I phoned to cancel. They put me through to the cancellations department who agreed to match my new quote with a saving of £500. I have done the same with my car insurance and breakdown making a total of £650 a year saving.
Anyone else know some good tips. I am just writing to give some advice to others to do this as if i hadnt thought to do this i would be much worse off. So always make sure you know the name of the company and price and what they will offer you as a bargaining tool for your current company. Plus, always take a name and a reference or staff number of the person you are talking to as I have been caught out before when you dont get your discount and they deny all knowledge.
