Avon makeup users, advise me please :)

I ordered some Avon products for the first time and they have just arrived today and, frankly, I'm a little disapointed. I'm a bit of a makeup junkie and was hoping this would be a less expensive outlet for my, er, cosmetic creativity. I bought some sparkle lash and line mascara/sparkly eyeliner cmbo and some Magix face perfctor. The mascara is kind of clumpy the face perfector is very viscose, hard to 'spread' over my face. The glitter is a bit of a saving grace, I have a penchant for sparkle, but I feel I could have got similar for similar price if I had raided teen ranges at Boots, and the clumpy mascara certainly feels like a 'teenage' product
For comparison of brands I'd say Nars, Stila, Benefit, Laura Mercier and Chanel are my normal 'fixes' of first choice.
I'm hoping regular wearers of avon products can advise me: did I make bad product choices and should try something else before writing them off for me, or is it simply likely I'm not an avon girl?:o

Firstly, I think with the brands you've mentioned, Avon honestly cannot compete. I used to use Avon stuff for a while, and to be honest, the nail varnish and glimmersticks eye pencils were the only makeup items I was ever truly happy with. I always found the mascaras to be quite clumpy, and the foundation products hard to get on with, but I'm sure others have had more positive experiences. To be honest, if you just want something cheap and cheerfu for one night only (e.g. glittery eyeliner), I would do as you've suggested and raid the teen counters; at least that way you'll be able to try things before you get them and not have the hassle of returning things....I like my coffee black, just like my metal!

OK, this isn't a direct answer to your question - but if you're looking for an inexpensive outlet for your makeup junkie tendencies, check out this thread:

Thanks to you both. I won't try anymore then.
BTW, who says glitter is a one off?

I dont rate Avon I am afraid. I find them cheap and not good quality.
I prefer to spend a bit more and have products that are good quality and will lastBaby Ice arrived 17th April 2011. Tired.com! :j0 -
Avon do a money back no quibble guarantee!!
My Avon rep always put her own little newsletter in with brochure and makes a big thing of reminding her customers that they can return any product (I think it excludes pierced earrings & underwear though) with no questions asked.0
