Lloydstsb Won't Help

hi
We are in dire straits.

Our current account had an overdraft limit of £900. we are in it and can't afford to pay it off each month.
We are keeping it like this waiting for the results of the bank charges.
As of today they have taken that facility and we are now £861 over the now non overdraft and it will now incur £20 a day charges.
We have rung them and have been told there is nothing that they can do about it and we should contact citizens advice because they have declined a credit check.
We don't know what to do.
Can we now file for hardship and how do i go about doing this urgently, re--phone numbers.
Is there anybody who has either just been put in a similar situation or any body that knows how to help
thanks
lou and tim p.s we have banked with them for 12 yrs

Sorry I cant help you much.
Just wanted to say hi & welcome.
Can I suggest that you open a new basic bank account with another bank that has no link wth Lloyds and get your money paid in there.

Banked with them badly it seems

No wonder they want rid of you

Would you still be with them 12 years later if they kept borrowing your money when they shouldnt have been?

I presume that moving your salary and getting a loan is out of the question? I think that the main thing is to get your salary directed elsewhere, so that you have money to live on next Month. Personally, I would persist in complaining by letter, and be persistent, it may just achieve something, but if not, it will have wasted their time and resources.
On a practical level, if the account goes to Collections, it should stop the robbery.. I mean charges, but won't do your credit rating any good.

Ask them to put a stop the charges and ask for a repayment schedule. Say you can afford to pay the whole debt off in 12 months, be polite etc. and say that its only way you can afford to continue.
  • Ask to be sent to the Customer support unit who will come up with an agreement with you to repay gradually.
It might be as well for you to open a new account for your salary payments but remember to cancel all direct debits and standing orders on the overdrawn account to prevent further charges.

The bank has a leaflet for customers in financial difficulty - ask for one - the above procedure is in it.

That's not exactly a helpful post when you know nothing of them OP's circumstances.

As stated if not already done get wages/credits directly elsewhere ASAP.

Sorry, but the length of time you have been with your bank/building society really doesn't mean anything anymore. A risk profile doesn't take into account time known.

As has already been said, ask to be sent to their collections department, or whatever they call it. You'll end up there anyway, if you don't do anything. You should be able to make some sort of structured agreement with them around what you can repay.

Keep to the agreement, and they'll likely leave you be with your current account rather than knock you down to a basic bank account etc.

  • I'm have a thread running and yes its about the LLTSB, please please open a bank account elseware (it will be a basic account) but don't delay going to C.A.B as they can help immediately and then help you sort out your finances for you, doesn't cost you and they are there ONLY for the customer.
You can sign a consent form for CAB to deal with the bank for you, then contact the bank and say you have been to CAB and then request that the Bank DO NOT contact you as it is harassment, (ref CAB hand out on harassment) otherwise they will ring you at anytime anyday, the latest time I have had a phone call is 10pm at night.
Your not the only ones being abused by this bank, once I had been to CAB this tuesday the stress has fell away and my kids have noticed I happy again and not so stressed, good luck
