When you are referring to CPW, are you referring to all of it, or just the e2save, OSPS diviisions? I have never had a problem with CPW directly (now on my first retention, but 4th deal), but note the significant caution on e2save and OSPS. I have got the impression that CPW directly are okay, but any of their "offspring" are not to be trusted (as a result, CPW direct offer few decent deals anymore on their website - that said, when they are trying to retain you, some CS will strangely point the finger at e2save etc as examples of bad practice ... without acknowledging that they own them!).

  • e2save used to do many free line rentals through cash back, but recently the deals have dried up and you'll be lucky to get a good 12 mth contract deal with a good phone. I'm not recommending e2save and you use that at your own risk, but from my friends who do use it they have no problems with it so far. =/

Ok to explain the situation in a little more detail.

I first went with OSPS for cashback deals.

Whilst I did have minor problems - late payment and a bit of chasing they were OK.

It was not till I took out a contract with E2Save that all the fun started.

They managed to screw up my account which meant that all my cashback checks for them, OSPS AND CPW started arriving in someone elses name.

I went to GREAT lengths to try to sort this out.

Took ALL my paperwork to the local CPW shop - as advised, including bank statements from which the DDS were being taken.

    No response.

Wrote to Charles Duston - guaranteed next day spec delivery.

    No reponse.

Sent LBA to CPW legal dept

    No response

Took out Money Claim on Line for all the accounts included

Said they did not owe me money and would defend in some of them no response to some of the others

I did manage to get a county court judgement against some of them

So CPW have NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER written to me in reponse

See post No 8 as it refers to the kind of things being reported about CPW.

  • CPW itself used to be fine. E2Save used to be excellent and trustworthy. Neither is now true. An organisation where one part is dismissive of another's practices and washes its hands of that part isn't exactly admirable or trustworthy. The threads on cpw retentions in recent months have a catalogue of people being promised various things on upgrades which aren't true (in particular not starting the upgrade until the current cashback deal with E2save is completed, confirming the new contract in writing and so on). Onestopphoneshop now IS E2Save. When you sue E2save, you are actually suing cpw. Of course, those (increasingly few) loyal customers who still haven't encountered a problem may spring to their defence. Offset that with the growing number who have switched to the side who (at best) have extreme problems and would no longer recommend this organisation or (at worse) are being forced to sue to get their money and wouldn't touch the company with a bargepole in the future. Over the last year many loyal customers have criticised me for attacking E2Save; many of those subsequently found that I (and many others giving warnings) were correct and changed their minds. I would still use them - but that's because I am extremely careful and expect to have to sue in a proportion of cases. That never used to be the case, but it's far better to wake up and smell the coffee if you haven't been stung than be stung and unprepared or shocked. Rookies should definitely avoid this company.

Just my personal opinion here but I have never had a problem with e2save and I have used them for the last 3 years to buy mobiles on 12 month free or nearly free contracts.

I am very well organised though. I don't even send my claims by registered post and it is still OK. My advice: don't get hung up on this site's opinions (unfortuanately especially mobilejunkie) when it comes to mobile cashback companies!

Saying this though e2save seem to have stopped the 12 month free or cheap deals.

    You have been lucky.

Read the thread on e2s problems to see what they have done to many, many others.

Is all this CPW slating really helping out the original poster??

Would like to think people would help the OP and go slating the poster who suggested the company.
He was only trying to help which is what I thought the site was all about
Perhaps I got it wrong
If you dont ask you dont get!!

    The OP is being helped!

Without the "slating" you dislike he would be under the impression from the posts recommending cpw and its trading names that they were the best company to go with.

Avoid the whole CPW group like the plague. Just don't go there, its not worth the trouble you will have with your cashback claim.
