Can anyone recommend a cheapish hand held vacuum , need it for picking up cat litter and crumbs to save getting the big vacuum out.

The Black and decker 7.2v with cyclonic action. It was recommended to me by a friend who is a child minder and is good enough to do the stairs with. I would say that it does need emptying and the filter 'knocking' clean after you use it for a big clean or you lose suction.
Amazon are out of stock of that model but the latest 7.2v is in stock at about £38. You might get the older model somewhere else - I paid £27 from Amazon about 4-5 months ago.0
