We have money in a bank (FSA regulated) deposit account which is held in a discretionary trust for the benefit of our children. As this is not technically a private individual or a small business, as the account is in the name of the trust, is it still covered by the £50,000 compensation rule?

I think that you would be covered as a Consumer under the FSCS.
