amazon.co.uk dvd rental

I signed up for the amazon dvd rental a few months ago but wasn't using my quota of dvds (in fact I only rented 8 dvds over 4 months instead of my allotted 16) - so i cancelled. I assummed that the dvds all had to be returned by 04 December (as it said on the screen) however about 10 days ago the info on my account (on the screen) had changed and said all dvd's to be returned by 04 January. I still had 1 dvd I had not watched and assummed they may have given me an extra month as I had not used up my quota of dvds - but today I got an email saying they were charging me £15.00 for the outstanding dvd. :( (It only costs about half that to buy new on their site)

I think this is very misleading to give you one set of information on screen on their site and then charge you without any warning (like an idiot I did not save a copy of the page or a screenshot - and now my account just says closed.

I have had to be very careful with my credit card spending this week as I am near my limit and this may take me £4 over my credit limit which means Barclaycard charges of £25 on top of the £15 from amazon = a total of £40! :( The email from amazon says do not reply to this email as replies are not monitored and will not be answered - does anyone have an email address or phone no for amazon which will get a response?

  • Just go to "your account" and work your way through the "contact us" options and eventually you'll see an option like "question not listed" or similar. I had to do this when a returned DVD didn't show up but they did reply and credit as returned. Good luck.
