By virtue of the fact that the same damaged panels would be replaced - then Yes. However, Insurers could ask you to contribute to the claim as you would have enjoyed 'betterment' not 'indemnity'.Reassuringly expensive0

if you try to pass of damage under an insurance claim that is not related by the very nature, it is fraud and an offense, and if caught ins cos can throw the claim out, cancel the policy and involve the police as fraud is a criminal act,
however as the previous poster stated, then if it is on the same area and the parts need replacing then if they do the repair, then the damage will go at the same time, however if they know it is pre-existing damage then you could be charged a "betterment" figure, or issue a cash in leiu settlement for the claim damage for you to pay and have the repairs done yourself
if for instance though you are hit on the front of the vehicle on the bumper, and you happen to have preexisting damage on the bonnet, then no it would not be repaired!MFW#105 - 2015 Overpaid £8095 / 2016 Overpaid £6983.24 / 2017 Overpaid £3583.12 / 2018 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2019 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2020 Overpaid £2583.12/ 2021 overpaid £1506.82 /2022 Overpaid £2975.28 / 2023 Overpaid £2677.30 / 2024 Overpaid £2173.61 Total OP since mortgage started in 2015 = £37,286.86 2025 MFW target £1700, payments to date at April 2025 - £1712.07..0 -
Why do I get the feeling you will shortly be putting in a 'oppotunistic' claim?0

not planning that at all. i just need to decide whether i go comp or theft only. one of the potential benefits to comp would be that i could get a few of the other bits fix essentially for free, IF i actually made a claim
it's only a question, no need to virtually accuse me of planning a fraud0 -
If the car is old enough and cheap enough to insure third party then I wouldn't bother with fully comp, as pretty much any damage will result in the insurance company writing it off, and not repairing it, so you will only get the value back.0
