What's best current account now?

I already have a current a/c at A&L which pays ~5% interest upto £2500. But I need to pay £500/month (can withdraw on next day though) there otherwise they'd charge me £5/month penalty.
Is there any similar good interest paying current account where no monthly commitment is necessary? (and offer doesn't end after a year or so)

Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.

According to Martin's article:
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/banking/compare-best-bank-accounts
Under the section The top accounts for those earning less than £6,250:
A few banks have no 'pay-in' threshold, meaning there's effectively no earnings limit; Cahoot is the highest payer at 3.75%, followed by Intelligent Finance and Smile at 2.25%. Yet these all require you to have a good credit score, so are suitable for those who have wealth but not those struggling. You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.0
