Ok this is quite a random question:
When I was younger my mum opened up a Halifax account in her surname after remarrying. I was so young I don't remember it (like 4/5/6 or something).
Now I went to close this account down a few years ago (about 5 years!!) because obviously its not in my birth name or anything, but I couldn't because of the security question (where and when, inc month, did you open this account - stupid woman asking me that question).
Now I also at the time had signed upto internet banking and every now and again I get stupid emails from Halifax saying I have a new message on my account.
Any idea when they will actually close the account and forget all about me?
I left £0.01 in there.

If your mother did not transfer the account to you, I assume her signature is on the records. I would imagine a letter signed by her would be sufficient to close the account. Bearing in mind the balance, it is hardly a risk to the Halifax.:beer:0

No it used to be when it was a passbook account but as soon as they gave me a debit card (crappy visa electron) it was in my name (but obv with the crappy surname).
I'll just leave it and hopefully one day theyll stop sending me crap.0
