Fungal toe infection

Sorry if anyones just had their dinner . Has anyone ever had a nail infection thats cleared up. OH has had it for 3 years, used several remedies including lotion from Dr and some lotion & tabs mail order from USA. NOTHING has worked. There apparently is a tablet on prescription that Dr is reluctant to prescribe because it can have an adverse effect on the liver, so OH doesn't really want that, but he is getting fed up with it now. It is on all the toes of one foot. He is contemplating having the nails removed, but I think its a bit extreme. Can anyone offer him any hope that it might just clear up on its own??

Can I recommend a combination of Tea Tree Oil and Lavender Oil ?
Make sure you buy the propper oil and not diluted in any way.
I always keep these 2 oils in the house they are both very useful for lots of things.
Tea Tree - antiseptic - spots, sores, anything infected - great on ulcers and mouth sores (tastes foul tho)
Lavender - Anti fungal - also great on burns.
Hubby had a fungal toe nail and athletes foot for ages and had used many of the shop bought and prescribed products but when he bathed everynight with the tea tree and lavender it cleared up.
I also use tea tree & lavender for a wash during those more itchy occassions when canestan is in short supply and it is very calming and soothing (6 drops of each with some warm water.
2 natural products, better than chemicals.
Please note... I am not an amromatherapist so not qualified to give advice but just sharing my findings. I use these 2 oils in the home more often than anything else..e.g. antiseptics etcIf you want to get ahead in the Rat Race then you will need some faster Rats !! :rolleyes:0 -
Hi there, yes that is a bit extreme !!
I had that yucky fungus among us ... not nice to talk about but here goes !!
It's supposed to be a consequence of having athlete's foot (ie another fungal infection), which I did as a teenager. The only real way to properly get rid is to have those tablets prescribed and keep up the hygiene, but I didn't know of any side affects .... well I suppose you get them with any tablets, they have to cover the angles ...
Anyway you have to take them for about 3 months but you can see the 'cack' growing out so you cut it off and there you are - jobs a good un !!
So - single ladies out there - I am now fully clean !!! So don't be put off ... lol

My dad had one for about 15 years that he tried every cream and potion on and even a course of injections at the doctors and nothing got rid of it until one day he was helping someone move house and dropped a piano on his toe. It bruised really badly and then cleared up about 3 weeks later!!!2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

Had this bad 2 years ago, the only sure cure after trying all the herbal remidies and oils is a 6 month course of tablets from your Doctor.
Doctors will not perscribe if you have certain conditions as it is a strong drug and can have side effects, make sure they fully review any medication you are taking before perscribing and you will have to have a review every few weeks for the first couple of months.
IT HAS WORKED !

What about manuka honey cream, I have found it very good healing a post-operative wound. It is resistant against mrsa etc. http://www.worldwideshoppingmall.co.uk/body-soul/manukacare18.asp0

I had this condition a couple of years ago - not to bad but it just didn't go away. Got some advice from the health food shop about improving immune system etc. but no luck, and also tried tea tree oil still no effect.
In the end the Doc gave me Lamasil which I took for about 8 months. Worked a treat - and all my other nails improved a lot as well!
I suppose the real clincher is - if by any chance I ever get it again I would ask for the same pills straight away and not mess about.

i had this for aaaaaaages, admittedly i didnt try doing anything about it, it was just there, on all toes on my right foot, since i was about 7ish (19 now)
at about 12, doctor gave me lamisil tablets....and they gave me a very weird kidney illness, so came straight off them! gave up trying to get rid of it for a while, but this summer i started using lamisil cream on them....provided you follow the instructions and put it on religiously twice a day, it makes a huge difference, and its now almost gone :jOne thing...that sets pulses racing...that gets hearts pounding...for which there is no substitute...only YOU can provide...blood.

It seems to be a bigger problem than most people will admit to, but it isn't anything dirty, its just some people are more suseptable than others. I will pass all the advise on to OH, although I think he will be reluctant to take the tablets and I KNOW he wont agree to dropping a piano on his foot. Bit extreme Black -Saturn, but if he carries on moaning about it I might just do it for him. Thanks all:smileyhea A SMILE COSTS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING0

To be honest, I wasn't pleased about going to the docs in the first place but once you start with the tablets, you can physically see it growing out and it's like an incentive ... in a weird kinda way !!
Good luck !!0
