House Left Unoccupied

HELP!!!

I am moving abroad in Jan for about a year could be more. I want to leave my house empty with full contents in so that when I come back for holidays or if I dont like Sarasota I can come back as and when I like and not have to be put up by family and friends.

I cant find buildings or contents insurance to cover this anyone got any ideas?

Thanks

I think most insurance companies have time limits for how long a house is left unoccupied for.

Have you got friends or relatives who would like to spend a while there. Or what about housesitters?

Benefits of having someone there at least part of the time is that the house gets aired, hopefully garden etc gets looked after too. Also if left totally empty you could have problems with mail etc accumulating, mail redirecting services don't tend to be 100% efficient, for some reason it's always the important ones that get through!!
  • Yeah, I have got someone coming in on a weekly basis and someone cutting grass etc. but the insurance companies dont want to take that into consideration. You have to be "living" there.
