Charged £22 fee on dormant Barklays Account? READ THIS

It seems a lot of people are having problems with this new system, here is what I told others in a differnt thread.
Right, its sounds like you have both been charged with the new Personal Reserve Usage fee. This is a new system Barklays implemented on the 18 August 2008. Previously there was a £5-£10 buffer on accounts without overdrafts. so if you went overdrawn within this amount no fees would be charged. It sounds like your dormant accounts have been within this buffer for years and now that the new fee system has been introduced you have been charged £22 for every five working days since the 18 August. This has happened to thousands of people and is being investigated by Barklays. I would certainly recommend you write to Barklays and explain you believed the accounts were closed and perhaps that you are willing to pay the amount you were overdrawn but not the fees. I believe all cases where this has happened are hoped to be resolved by 30th September.
Also if you have any problems with them saying you were sent a letter to inform of the new charging system, tell them you did not receive it.
Hope that helps, PM me if you need any more help.

Why not close accounts you don't use?
Think it is a bit sneaky to be saying you haven't received letters if you have and merely not acted on them.0 -
I agree with your second point, justthisonce.
And, seriously, it's Barclays with a C. Barklays sounds like a small village in Hertfordshire.
KiKi' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".0 -
For those who believed that their accounts were closed and had a very small balance. Any account that has not been used for over 6 months had the reserve removed in the first week and are in the process of being refunded and letters issued to explain the situation. This should be completed by the end of September so don't worry.I work for Barclays, however anything I say on this forum is not the official word of Barclays. I am only here to supply relevent information to assist.0
