2006 Holiday Ideas 15 month old baby

Hi,
I'm looking for some advice. We want to book a holiday for summer 2006 with guarunteed sun that is suitable for our daughter (she will be 15 months old). We were considering Spain as we'd like to keep flying time to a minimum.
Has anybody got any advice/inspiration to help us choose. We don't want the typical concrete jungle resorts but it would be nice to have some recreational options within driving distance.
Any help gratefuly received.

Although it is a customish bulit resort, Salou in costa dorada is fantastic for all the family but is amazing for the little ones. We are booked to go for the 5th time next september and my youngest will be 16months. On the beach is great because they have a different climbling frame and swings every couple of hundred yards. At both ends you have traditional spain with a harbour at one end and a flea market at the other and in the middle on the front is lots of shops bars restrants, ice cearm parlars and they even have a mcdonalds and burger king (mind you there is one of these everywhere) there is a small quiet beach up a hill inn cap salou (about 5mins walk from center)
there is also a water park and theme park but unless you have older kids i wouldn't really bother with the theme park. It is only an hours drive from barcalona, if you want a day trip. It really is a great place to go on holliday, we have been alsorts of places but this is the only one we have liked enough to go more than once.
We are staying at club dorada palace hotel and apartments. For 2 adults 1 child and 1 infant it has cost £1236 HB for 14 nights. It is a lovely hotel has 2 pools and adults only roof top pool, kids club, small on site park, good entertainment and a lovely restrant.Work like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0 -
Try Menorca its mostly low rise and smallish resorts and fairly quiet. Good beaches. The capital is also worth a trip for the adults. Probably a good idea to hire a car for a few days.0

Yep, Majorca has it all when you have small kids. We went to Cala D'or - it was lovely. Reasonable prices and kids welcome everywhere. We hired a villa and a car for this holiday and had a great time.
Also - when my son was little (late 80's) we went to the (then) Yugoslavia for a holiday - the resort is now located in what is known as Croatia, and that was also lovely BUT at that time we had to take our own disposable nappies as they were a bit short on basic items, that was the only problem. I would think it has probably improved in that respect since then! We stayed in a really nice hotel that catered for families.
Also went to Crete (Ag Nic) when he was 3 - he was cute and blond (alas he is now 19 and no longer cute or blond!) and the Greeks LOVED him. We hired a villa again plus a car but only for a week as when we arrived I got the flu and was ill for the first week!
Only things against Greece and Croatia are flying times - about 4 hours.
If I was doing it this year, knowing what I know now and didn't know then, it would still be Spain - I'd hire a villa or appartment on the Costa Blanca or Costa Del Sol - but now I would also add in to my options France (hire a mobile home on a good camp site in Brittany or the Dordogne and self-drive - what a fantastic holiday!) or Italy (they just love the bambinos).
Hope this helps - good luck with making your choice.

Taurus Park, La pineda, spain.. 1 hour from Barcelona.
We took out children there when one was 6 months and the other 18 months.
Its a thomson super family hotel on a 1/2 board basis.
Large family rooms, help yourself pushchairs, soft play rooms, an endless list of chidlrens facilities, special childrens section in the restaurant with all the favs on. Even has it's own zoo!
It's on the front so you get a pool and sea view.
We got the train and went to Barcelona on a few day trips at a very low cost.
Best childrens hotel we have ever been.
Go on the thomsons web site and get a price as it's also the best value we ever had.0 -
When my kids were that age I didnt try anything more ambitious than a caravan at a Haven holiday camp. They loved it though and weve gone back almost every year since then.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

Hi,
I am looking at the same thing for my baby who will be a similiar age in June next year.
We have narrowed it down to either Jersey or a Centreparc
Best Regards
