The Faith of Barack Obama
by Stephen Mansfield
In a few months America will have a new president and it could well be Barack Obama.
The African-American leader for the Democrat party has managed to capture the attention of the world not only with his political ideologies but with his affirmation about his faith. Mansfield captures this side of Barack’s character by exploring how Christianity has played a significant role in his life.
The book touches on the influence his agnostic mother and Muslim father has played in his life; his turn to Christianity after working in the inner cities of Chicago; his years at the controversial Trinity United Church of Christ; and his association to the 'radical' teachings of Rev. Jeremiah Wright.
Archbishop Desmond Tutu has endorsed the book saying if you read it you’ll “know why Barack Obama has such a passion for justice and equity, such a gift for filling people of different generations with a new found hope that things can and will change for the better.”
So why is this book worth a read? Mansfield sums it up quite eloquently: “If a man’s faith is sincere, it is the most important thing about him, and it is impossible to understand who he is and how he will lead without first understanding the religious vision that informs his life.”

Many thanks to the wonderful staff at Birmingham Childrens Hospital caring for my tiny and very poorly grandson who was born at 29 weeks. Thanks to them he is getting a little stronger every day.:A:A:A
