Help! I'm running out of Ideas :(

I'm trying to increase the amount I pay off to my debts each month, currently I pay £308, with our mortgage, car etc to pay that leaves me around £60 each week to live on. I've started using Quidco, been selling things on ebay for quite a while and have also sold mobile phones to Mazuma Mobile and am currently working through my CD's for MusicMagpie, but I don't feel like I'm making much of an impact.

I have a Next Directory account and a credit card that I wanted to pay off before I start chipping in bigger payment to my BIG debt (currently around £16k) and I feel like I've taken ages to do even that! The next account is paid, it had £400 on it and I'm now tackling the credit card which is £355ish but I'm slowly loosing my motivation.

I have read over the match betting stuff but I really can't get my head around it, plus I start the University as a night class two nights a week as of next week, and I work full time and have a one year old daughter so I don't have much spare time! My OH is great and really supportive but I just don't feel like I'm getting anywhere.....

Does anyone have any other suggestions I could try? The only other thing I can think of is buying stuff on ebay to sell on, but there's no guaranteed profit there :(

Any suggestions are greatfully received!!

It is a bit risky buying stuff on ebay to sell on really as why would people bid more for the same item sold by a different person. Sometimes you can make money if, for example, it was listed in the wrong category to start with so noone saw it. But mostly, not. Try looking at car boot sales for bargains that can be sold for a profit on ebay.

Of course, if you do this, you would be paying tax on your income - this is different to just selling your own old stuff!

Another good way is mystery shopping, but difficult if you have no free time.

Thanks for your reply, it was job lots of things I was looking at, as opposed to single items to resell for a profit. Has anyone had any experience of this?

If you want to do something like that, you are better off sourcing a wholesaler.

although i do not havent had any deb related issues as i have only just started college .. i saw that some1 said about not selling stuf you have bought of ebay ?

i would disagree as i have done this ..it was with watches and made myself 100 % profit ..ok it was only 70 quid and that may not help you allot .. but i supose if you do it right then it would work ..
however i would be more inclined to do car boot sales as thats were i made my money ..

another tip .. if your in the wholesale part of ebay and you find a good buy . email the seller if no1 has bidded and see if you can get the price down .. eg ( knock off a tenner and ill buy it now ) it worked for me

hope this helpes even a tiny bit

  • Thanks for your reply andy05, I was browsing the wholesale and joblot bit of ebay earlier so I guess I just need to find the right product. I have been to car boot sales this summer but only selling old bits and pieces of my own, were you selling wholesale goods at car boot sales?

Why not do Avon? (or some other direct selling!) If you want to know the ins & outs about it, PM me.

Thanks for your reply, I hadn't considered it because of the time factor. I used to do Virgin Vie and found it was quite time consuming and that was without my daughter and my studies! How much time each week do you have to commit, and whats the commission like?

You can sell to friends and family have your own territory or do home parties.(or do all 3)
It's up to you how much time you want to put into it, obvisouly the more you show your books about the more orders you'll get = more commision.

New book comes out every 3 weeks, so 18 earning opportunities a year

orders need to be over £77 to earn commision
    £77 -£144 = 20% on whole order
    £144 + = 25%

PM me for any more info needed.

I buy alot of joblots and i am doing fine with re-selling on ebay try localbargainfinder google it this throws up everything near you for sale on ebay just put in how many miles your prepared to travel eg 10,25 etc and put in your postcode with no spaces i have found many a bargain on this practically for pennies and you go pick up the items yourself without paying the postage or check out fat fingers for mispelled items on ebay wher theres less bidders to get a bargain or find out where your nearest police auction is by checking out eempire you can find alot of bargains there

    Hope any of this helps

The only draw back I can see with ebaying job lots, is it depends on what it is you are selling / wanting to sell.

If it is high quality product, known brand you buy cheap, then you are fine.
However if it is cheap tat, then it can cause more problems than you can count.
Imagine selling 10 items that you post out, all of which are faulty..
You have 10 lots of postage and fees to refund to the sellers, then you have to get the stuff back to the wholesaler / seller and then chase them for a refund.

What sort of stuff are you thinking of ebaying ?
