New Central Heating

Hi,
I am wanting radiators put in all rooms of my home. I am having a gas meter installed at the end of the month (None at the moment) so am in the process of getting some quotes. I have a hot water cylinder with electric immersion which i would like to keep. My question is, can i just put in a boiler to run the radiators and leave the hot water cylinder working on the electric immersion heater, and would this be cheaper than replacing the whole system (although i want to keep the stored water). Im just trying to work out what is needed before I get people in to give me quotes.

Thanks in advance

Why do you want to keep the tank? Water heated via a combi boiler is cheaper, and comes under mains pressure = lovely hot showers! Plus you'll free up the space used by the tank.

Yes you can do what your requesting but gas is about a third of the price of electricity so the extra cost to not replace the cylinder would be repaid in a couple of years.
