graduate account

Hey guys, wonder if you can help me.

I had three student accounts althought your not meant to have more than one. But I blagged it saying I havent got any other bank account with anyone else. The student loan that I used to get went into my main account(HSBC),I used an abbey account if I wasnt able to use my HSBc account and I had a barclay because I wanted a popcorm maker. but I cut the barclay's card up so really I had two student accounts.

As I hardly used my abbey card, they told me I could no longer than their interest free overdraft facilities. I wasn't too bother with this. how that I have graduated, HSBC has upgratde my account to a graduate account which allow me £1500 interest free overdraft facilities. However when I got upgrades to a graduate account for Abbey I still could not get an interest free overdraft unless I start having more activity in my account. I want to know what is it meant by activity?they told me they wanted to see my wages go in there, my rent money, food bill, mobile phones etc. All this is dealt on my HSBC account and I dont want to risk losing HSBC. However I want this overdraft badly.

Please help

  • natwest are a bit funny like that to all you have to do is pay a bit of money in, just pay a standing order or something in to your abby account once a fortnight or something did the job with natwest.
  • Banks ... Don't you hate 'em ... all they seem to think about is money.
On the other hand you can't blame them for trying to prevent fraud and/or deception can you?

    Best wishes from Simon Kowell

the thing is about Abbey is that, if I did a standing order from another bank they know ive got another bank acocunt. which is "against their policy" Unless I get my mum or someone else to do standing order. ???

Definitely not. A bank can not tell what accounts you have with other banks. Unless you tell them. Its called the Data Protection Act.

You can in theory see what banks you have applied to through credit scoring but not exact account information.
