Would your food mixer mix this? or is mine just rubbish

Hello
Hope someone can help me. I have recently started using our food mixer for my little one's puree food and I have to add lots of water to actually get the food to puree - even though it has been steamed to an inch of its life.
This morning I tried to puree fresh melon cut into very small pieces and some tinned peaches - and it just did nothing.
Is it my technique or do we have a rubbish food mixer?
I am happy to buy a new one but I am just checking that I am not doing something wrong.
TIA

are you sure the blade is connected right? If so, buy a new one0

Yeah I think it is - although it does get a "hot" smell when using it.:heart2:Mum to my little Daisy 3 and Archie 1.:heart2:0

does the blade turn at all, even if no food is in?0

Yes it does turn - does that mean it is fixed properly? It does kind of move things around but just takes lots of water to puree stuff.:heart2:Mum to my little Daisy 3 and Archie 1.:heart2:0

sounds like the motor is burnt out as there's a smell when using it or it could be a plastic cog which has worn down. (God I hate gadgets with plastic gearings). Open it up and see if anything is worn down, if not, the motor is burnt out and you'll have to buy a new one.0 -
If it is a food mixer that you are using, it won't puree. For that you need a food processor (that comes with a high speed chopping blade) whether that is a large, counter top type or a hand held "whizzer". A mixer does just that - mixes things together not chop them up ultra fine. Hope that helps if there is any doubt as to which type of machine you have.0

I got a Kenwood mixer/processor (has a crazy number of attachments for doing all different things). A processor will definitely have no trouble pureeing fruit! In fact it'll puree pretty much anything you can think of.0

I use a really basic hand blender for pureeing my baby's food ...
a bit like this ...

It's fab. Always comes out smooth, I never need to add water AND I use it for making soups and smoothies for me too!

I seem to remember my mum telling me once that she economised by not buying jars of baby food when I was little. She'd just blend whatever dinner she and dad were having.0
