Just quit my job!!! No money now?!?!?

Hello All

I don't know if this is the right post but I have got to get this off my chest.

I have just handed my notice into my manager after just 4 months of employment. I have got £23k of debt and the job was deemed to be the ticket to pay it off. However, the work load is impossible to do, no one takes responsibility for their actions and then when it goes pear shapped they all blame each other.

I just could not stand it any longer. I know that I will not sleep right tonight nor will I feel well tomorrow. I don't have a job to go to and I am going to worry like mad that I can't pay anything.

Any ideas on what to do.

Mr Maximus - should me Mr Minimus at the moment though:(
Ok £23k in debt so what. I am paying it off but need to be quicker about it. Any help or ideas are always welcome.

My Debt Free Day will be 1st August 2018! Ouch!

    Hi
I would suggest contacting your creditors and offer token payments until you get back on your feet again. Can you do some work from home jobs until you find permanent employment?

Try not to worry about it too much - they can't have what you don't have.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

You could try going to sign on for JSA which should bring in some money at least to live on - it won't be a lot but there will be some bear in mind that they will contact your employer to find out why you left. Register with some temp agencies pronto and upload your CV onto Monster Jobs, Total Jobs and other such websites.

Please post your SOA (statement of affairs) https://www.makesenseofcards.com/soacalc.html - I think there is a button on there to allow you to format it for MSE and you can then upload it here.

If you list all the debt that you have including your outgoings and income then I am sure people will be along with some ideas on what to do about the debt and how to crack it.

Hope this helps and hang in there.

Sorry why did you give up a job before you had another one to go to?
however i agree with most of posters, write to creditors mention your out of work and offer token payments,
    save money where you can,
if still unemployed in 8 weeks then claim jsa ( you could claim straight away if you had been sacked, or made redundant)

    Mr Maximus,
I sympathise with your situation, I am in a job I hate, I have only been in the job 6 weeks and already regret taking it, I would do as other posters suggested and maybe sign up for temp work, usually it is weekly paid so you usually dont have to wait a month for wages.

  • Thanks for all the messages. Let me see if I can answer them all.

DMP with Payplan - will be letting them know tomorrow.
I don't think JSA will be enough for the £800 per month rent we have to pay.
CV on Monster and agencies contacted yesterday before I did the biz.

Rob - reason for leaving without having another job....... hmm. Working 50+ hours a week sorting rubbish out that was not even mine when I started. Then having a senior director give me a dressing down due to a loss which I found out later was not even in my control! It is a recognised fact that the work load, system problems etc etc have been ignored from virtually the first day I started. No I am being told off for things that happened before my employment! I would name them but I would no doubt get hammered again from HR.

Will do temp work and bar work to keep the pennies rolling in. I could work from home as I have a little project on the go which could be my ticket to working for myself.

Also willing to do odd jobs for food and rent :D PM if interested. tee hee.

Thanks again for the messages. Will update you all if I find something.

    God this site is good.

I would write to head office detailing why you have felt it necessary to resign and get your cv in to as many agencies and job sites as possible (monster etc).

I know it's sometimes hard to stomach a situation like that but you should have made sure you weren't going out of the frying pan into the fire. Time to get busy and if it means using their photocopier, then so be it.

Are you not even going to work your notice?
Or don't you need to give any as it is less than 6 months??

Mr Minimus Maximus - the tip with agencies is to badger them - contact them every day so that they know you are available, they will get so sick of you calling that they will find you a job. I know it works because I used to do it when temping was my permanent job.

Try contacting your local benefits agency to see if you can get help with the rent. Can you not move to a smaller place or sublet a room?

You could get E-baying as well - see what you can sell from around the house. Might bring in a few extra pennies.

As Horace says, do badger the agencies. I've done it many times. Even used to ring them a couple of times a day so that they knew I was available for work the next day.

Have you perhaps got any hobbies that you could turn into money making?

Tis the wedding season now, so many hotels, clubs etc will be looking for extra bar staff - I've done it many a time and hotels are often crying out for extra people at this time of year.

Try https://www.reed.co.uk , they have masses of jobs from all agencies. I'm currently looking around for another job (being made redundant) and I find it brilliant. I've already got 2 interviews lined up for next week through it and I only registered on it last week.

    Here goes.

I have been in touch with Hays who believe they have about three jobs that I could do. One I am particulary interested in because it is more than I am currently earning. I know what you mean by pestering them. I have phoned them every day this week so they know I want out.

I have agreed to work for 6 weeks so they can get some other poor sole in to take the flack. I won't go into too much detail about it but I know it was an almighty decision but to take the stress was/is not good.

Bar work I am already eyeing up as I did it for 8 years so no problems there.

Personally I think this is just a life time blip.

DID - I know the feeling when redundancy comes around. Been there 3 times and it is rubbish. Good luck with your interviews.
